Nascita Montuschi

I’m a Londoner by birth, half Italian, hence the name that sounds like a sneeze (say: ‘Nasheeta Montooski). Until I discovered astrology I thought poetry and music were the most excitement you could have while looking at a piece of paper. I studied English and European Literature at Warwick University and then spent the seventies teaching English while exploring the humanistic growth movement, of which I am both a survivor and a beneficiary.

In the eighties I got married, a cottage in the west country, a son and a daughter and a serious interest in astrology. I chose the Huber School of Astrological Psychology [now API(UK)] to study with, attracted by its holistic, psychological approach and emphasis on respect and empathy in consultations. I trained with them 1988-91 and tutored for them 1992-96 before finding that my own approach needed time and space to mature. I remain enormously indebted to API(UK), in whose teaching much of my work is still rooted. I particularly appreciate their insistence that meaning is made by astrologer and querent together, not just by the all-seeing astrologer issuing pronouncements.

Other astrological activity since 1991 includes:

  • being on the chart-reading team at twelve glorious Glastonbury festivals, including two mud years, first with Rainbow Circle Astrologers and later with the Wheel of Astrologers
  • chart-reading at the Big Green Gathering, with the same organisations
  • teaching evening courses in astrology for  local education authorities
  • contributing to Rainbow Circle astrology camps, including co-facilitating the memorable total eclipse camp on Dartmoor in 1999.
  • running a small consultation practice while teaching literature; poetry appreciation and chart-reading have a lot in common.
  • contributing articles to the online astrology magazine ‘AstroNews’
  • Writing a monthly blog for Astrocal

I’m now in my early sixties and living the closing Uranus square we all get around that time, making the changes that prepare us for the ‘third age’. I have just left what may well be my last paid employment and am putting my beloved astrology centre-stage at last.  It feels good!
